Jews in Włodawa

Jews baked matzos that filled huge baskets. Apart from the synagogue, they also gathered for prayer at houses on the Wyrkowska street, past the tenement house of Kaźmierczuk. On the Kościelna street there was a bookshop of Minc. Then there was Szczurik's shop. And when you entered Szczurik's you could come in naked and leave in a hat and a fancy umbrella. You could say that Włodawa was a centre of herring trade. But those were such tasty herrings. Barrels, if you wanted you could look inside them, check which ones were cheaper, which ones were better, you could choose. There was everything.
